My cat has scabs and bald spots. Is a vet visit necessary for this?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 8.81 lbs

My cat has been looking weird lately. He started to have scabs and bald spots more often than usual. He has a bald spot on his back that completely shows the skin and has a scab on the back and one on the top of his head. I am currently willing to get him to the vet but the veterinary services are very pricy here and i wanted to know if consultation is necessary. I love him too much to let him suffer so please help me, doc.

I would be worried this is a ringworm or an allergy from fleas or something in the environment. Since they are getting worse and ring worm can be contagious, i would get him seen by a vet. Antibiotics or allergy medicines can be a very simple fix if that is the case.
