Is mopping with diluted orange oil cleaning product safe for my pets?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 4 years old | 14 lbs

I see lots of concerns about essential oils being used around dogs and cats. I use a product containing 5% orange oil and mix a capful of it into a large bucket for mopping. Is this dangerous to my cat, dog, or both? Thx

I think this would be dilute enough that there wouldn’t be much concern. Cats with respiratory disease can be sensitive to oils ina diffuser, and both dogs and cats are very sensitive to topical essential oils.
