What causes a red raised patch with hair loss under my cat's eye?

I am sorry to hear about your kitty! The two most common causes for lesions/irritation in this region would be an ear issue (the cat is traumatizing the skin while trying to get to the ear) such as infection, mites, or foreign body within the ear; or allergies (we can have allergies to foods or environmental allergies like pollen, dust). I would recommend bringing your kitty into the vet so they can look down into the ears with an otoscope to check for abnormalities. Dependingon their findings they can prescribe medication to help treat this issue.

Ringworm is a fungus that can be transferred to people. Therefore, I would bring George in to see his veterinarian, so that he can be tested for that. Other possibilities for lesions like the one George has include, bacterial infections, infections with skin parasites, and even allergies. It is possible but not likely. It can be local irritation or infection from a small wound or it may be a small growth that is causing irritation. Place an e-collar (cone) on her if she is scratching or rubbing. This may be enough to allow healing. If not, have Maggie examined by your veterinarian to diagnose infection or injury.

There are a multiple things that can cause hairloss in cats including bacterial infections, fungal infections (ringworm), allergies, mites, and fleas. She should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treatment. Your vet may need to do some diagnostic tests to diagnose the problem.

Hello, sorry to hear about Emma. It looks like she may be scratching her head and ears because she is itchy. This scratching may be due to allergies, an ear infection (she could also be shaking her head), or a skin parasite. With allergies, you may also note, but not necessarily, pink skin, hair loss, tiny bumps, hives, and constant licking/scratching. All of these can be medically managed. Emma may require a few diagnostics to rule out different causes for this which may include a skin scrape, cytology, and fungal culture. Other diagnostics may include an ear swab incase your veterinarian is suspicious of an ear infection. Monitor for a head tilt, droopy lower eye lid, different size pupils, and a raised third eye lid as all of these may be more consistent with an ear infection. The best way to diagnosed and treat these conditions is by visiting your veterinarian to have some tests performed. I am sorry to hear about Onyx. I would wonder with the change in location if this could be allergy related. We can sometimes see irritation/inflammation around the eyes due to allergies. We can also see this with some mites, bacterial or viral infections, or autoimmune diseases. I would recommend an examination by a veterinarian to try to pinpoint the underlying cause.
