My nursing cat looks pregnant. Can she be pregnant while lactating?

Nursing can take a lot of energy, so making sure your pregnant cat is receiving enough nutrition for herself, the growing kittens and the kitten she is nursing is key. Be sure to provide her with a high-quality kitten food that will offer extra protein and fat to provide enough for everyone. Many cats will adopt kittens from other litters, and some cats have even been known to adopt babies from other species! If this is her first litter, she may want to push away or attack the kitten when her own litter comes, so be sure to have supplemental milk ready if it is needed or if the kittens own mother is not nursing it already. If your pregnant cat does become aggressive, be sure to keep the kitten separated so both mom and kitten can be stress-free. Otherwise, as long as mom and kitten are both happy, she should be fine nursing one more!

Check if she has milk in one or more of her teats. If so, it is possible she has kittens. When she comes to eat, catch her and take her to your vet for an exam. and then let her go again so she can go feed her kittens. She may have another problelm with her abdomen or she may have retained a kitten. So this is serious.

You may see swollen, pink nipples, some "morning sickness", increased appetite, weight gain and a distended abdomen. Without a physical exam though, a determination of pregnancy cannot be made definitively. Ideally, she should be examined by a veterinarian. An abdominal x-ray or ultrasound can confirm pregnancy.

Yes it is possible for a cat to get pregnant at the age of 6 months, sometimes even at 4 months. Her nipples are indeed very big and this could point to a pregnancy. If she is gaining circumference and has been for a while, and if she had access to outside when she was in heat, then it is very likely she met a tomcat. You can have her checked by your vet (xrays or ultrasound) to check for pregnancy and also for the number of kittens, which will help determine when she is done giving birth.

Yuki's nipples and mammary glands look like those of a pregnant cat. I see that she has not been spayed, so if she got out of the house or has been around ANY intact male cats, I think it's most likely that she's pregnant. If there is absolutely no chance that she's been around any intact male cats, then there is a chance that her body is going through a pseudopregnancy. These false pregnancies can occur due to hormonal imbalances after being in heat and usually last a little over a month. The signs you are describing certainly could be consistent with pregnancy, but Mia could also be suffering from a false pregnancy. This is when a cat shows the signs of being pregnant, but actually is not. The only way to know for sure if she is pregnant or not is to have her seen by a vet.
