My cat has a pot belly, bloody stool, and is lethargic. What's wrong?

This could definitely be because of the change of food but the black color concerns me that there may be digested blood present. Since she is so young and tiny, I would consider this urgent so I would try to get her into the vet soon. I would that she may become dehydrated or sicker if it isn't addressed. Your vet will likely want to run a fecal on her to check for any intestinal parasites. They may also want to know the food you are feeding her. I hope this helps and she starts to feel better soon.

There could be a couple of reasons why Pharbie has a swollen tummy and is bleeding when he poops. It could be he's gotten into something rotten or toxic, may have a foreign body, could have GI ulcers, could have an anal sac abscess or rupture, or could have trauma to his GI tract. This is something that should be checked out by a vet as soon as possible, so I'd take him into one now. Best of luck.

Poor kitties. It sounds like these kitties likely have an intestinal bug causing their symptoms. I would visit your vet to have their stools tested first to determine what bug is present, and then they can get prescribed the appropriate dewormer. They may also need to do a short course of antibiotics to get the gut flora back to normal, especially if you are seeing them straining (colitis). I hope that your little ones feel better soon! I'm quite concerned that she has diarrhea with bright red blood in it and is very lethargic. Based on this, I think she should see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Poor Baby! It sounds like she has something more serious going on with her, and it could be that her anorexia, vomiting, and blood in the stool could be caused by GI tumors, GI polyps, irritable bowel disease, or a foreign body, among other causes. I would take her back into the vet for a physical exam, blood tests, a urinalysis, and possibly x-rays to diagnose what is causing her symptoms so treatment can be started. She may have something that's treatable, and her current symptoms do not necessarily mean she is dying. Have her seen by a vet in the morning.

These are very concerning symptoms, and could fit several serious issues, such as GI obstruction, internal bleeding, infection, cancer, etc. I would recommend having Lily examined by a vet. After physical examination, the vet may recommend diagnostics such as blood work or x-rays to determine the best possible treatment.

Poor Sophie, she looks very sweet. It sounds to me like she is having serious digestive issues and needs to be examined by a veterinarian. She could have developed inflammatory bowel disease or some other internal issue causing the blood stools. She likely is pooping outside the litter box because she has increased urgency to go and can't hold it as long due to a medical issue. It is unlikely the pooping outside the box will resolve until the medical issue is addressed. Your veterinarian may need to do blood work to figure out what is causing the problem. Sophie may need a special prescription diet or a medication like Flagyl to help resolve the issue. If she is drooling it's likely she may have dental disease so your veterinarian can examine her mouth and address the problem. With her balance being off I'm also concerned she may be in pain and require prescription pain medication. Please remember there are no safe over the counter pain medications for cats so you will need to have these prescribed by a veterinarian.
