My cat pooped a snake-like thing. Why is she lethargic and hiding?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | spayed | 9 lbs

Did my cat pass a snake? I found what appears to be a baby snake or large worm in my cat’s poop. She had recently shown a personality change and had been acting anxious and scared, more vocal than usual and showing less interest in her food. She was constipated for roughly a day before passing this “snake”. Now she is lethargic and hiding, still acting nervous, but eating and drinking. I am not able to take her to a vet at the moment. She is an indoor cat, just barely over a year old. Spayed.

That looks like it could be a baby snake to me. Eww!! It's good that Wednesday is eating and drinking. I'd keep an eye on her for now, and if she keeps acting lethargic over the next 24-48 hours, have her seen by a vet.
