My cat pooped a snake-like thing. Why is she lethargic and hiding?

He needs to be seen by a veterinarian for a wellness exam. He may not be able to poop and may be constipated, or he had so many worms that all the dead worms are making him ill. Keep him warm, entice him to drink water, and should he deteriorate he needs to be seen at a petER tonight.

It is possible there is still more string instead his intestines, and he should be examined by a vet now. If there is still string in his GI tract, then he will need surgery to remove it.

Wednesday could be having many different issues that could range from a virus to pancreatitis. I would try to feed her a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice. Make sure she is drinking water and observe her for any further vomiting/diarrhea or lethargy. If she is continuing to be sick tomorrow, I would recommend to take her into the vet for an exam and some bloodwork. The doctor can also give her medicine to help her feel better. Since she seems to prefer laying down, it's also possible that she's experiencing some degree of pain or discomfort. Some of these possible conditions include pancreatitis, infectious diseases (FIV, feline leukemia, FIP, etc.), constipation, kidney disease, liver disease, toxin exposure (did she eat a plant, medication or something else she shouldn't have?), or many other conditions. The fact that she hasn't been using the litter box normally might be a sign that she is dehydrated, even though she's drinking water when it's placed in front of her. At this point, it would be best to take Lily to her vet fairly urgently for evaluation. Your vet will need to examine her and will likely recommend some diagnostic testing, which may include blood work, an ultrasound or x-rays, to get to the bottom of this issue. This history concerns me - I start to get concerned any time a cat skips more than 1 meal, and if Luna is also lethargic and with the history of eating foreign objects, my concern for a foreign body / GI obstruction is very high. I recommend having Luna seen by your vet as soon as possible. Even if they don't think it's necessary to take her to surgery, helping her stay hydrated can do wonders for helping foreign material pass successfully through the GI tract! As far as the softer stools you're noticing now that he is using a litterbox indoors- soft stool can be caused by intestinal parasites (which he could have picked up from hunting or from fleas when he was outside), a sensitivity to something in his diet, and even more chronic conditions like inflammatory bowel disease. I would start by dropping a stool sample off with your veterinarian and/or asking for a dewormer. You could also feed him a very bland diet for a few days (like chicken or turkey human baby food, Gerber and beachnut are common brands) and see if that helps solidify the stools. If the soft stool persists then I would have him seen by his veterinary office. Hope this helps a little!
