My cat peed on my new hyper puppy. Is it stress or dominance?

This could be a behavioral issues especially if it occurred right after adopting your dog, but it could still be a medical problem. I would recommend taking Comet to a veterinarian and have them get a urine to rule out any type of infection. There are also systemic diseases (kidney disease and diabetes) that can cause an increase in urination which can present as inappropriate urination. It may also be something called Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease which can be brought on by stress. This can create inflammation in the bladder and the urethra, it can cause bladder stones and even UTI. Depending on what the veterinarian finds would depend on treatment. They may do a trial of antibiotics, they may change Comet's food or they may even prescribe medication to help with Comet's stresses from having a new housemate. Is there a reason you are not planning on desexing the older dog? Unless you are planning on breeding him it is best to have him castrated. This behavior of urinating on the puppy is a dominance behavior and it will only get worse. It is best to "nip it in the bud" and the way to do that is to have him desexed. The snapping at the puppy is also worriesome and a sign of aggression/dominance. I'm glad he seems OK now but this behavior could escalate especially as the younger puppy gets older and comes into sexual maturity himself. Just something to think about. Hope this helps. Inappropriate elimination can be due to either medical or behavioral problems. I always recommend having the cat examined by a vet to rule out any medical problems first, like GI disease, intestinal parasites or a urinary tract infection. If everything is normal on exam then you can consider this a behavioral issue. Cats will sometimes go outside the box if it is not cleaned frequently enough, if the litter or location of the box has been changed, or if there is something in the environment causing the cat stress (like the new housemate). You need to also consider pain/discomfort when using the box, either due to posturing or getting in/out of the box, especially if your cat is older. You may want to consider adding an extra litter box or two to your home, making the boxes more easily accessible. To help decrease your cat’s stress levels try adding pheromone diffusers like Feliway throughout the house. You may want to also consider talking to your vet about a urinary specific diet and possibly consider anti-anxiety medication to help relieve stress. I hope this helps. Best of luck. This isn't a behavioural problem, it's probably a bladder inflammation which cats get due to stress, which he obviously had because of the dog. You will need to take him to the vet in rder to get some medications to reduce the bladder inflammation, he will also need to be on a special diet for about a month to help reducing the bladder inflammation.

It is possible that adding a new kitten to the house could be causing stress on Tyler, leading him to urinate on the bed and mark his territory. If the kitten wants to be on the bed, he may feel the need to let the kitten know the bed is his space. One way to reduce marking behavior in dogs is to neuter them. Territorial marking is hormonally driven, and a way to stop it is to remove the source of the hormones: the testicles. Other reasons could be a UTI or bladder stones, and I would have Tyler seen by a vet for blood tests and a urinalysis to rule this in or out.
