My cat peeing less after spay, is her bladder recovering well?

There is a chance that there was some trauma to the bladder area while removing the uterus which is located just above the cervix. Some light bleeding can be expected to occur for 1-3 days after surgery but copious amounts of blood or prolonged bleeding should be considered abnormal. I would recommend either taking your cat back to the previous veterinarian, since he/she did the surgery, for a follow-up visit for further care. Or if the trust has been broken with this vet, you can get kitty seen with another expert for an exam and potential urinalysis to ensure there isn't a UTI present that could explain the symptoms that mentioned. As long as there is an active flow of urine and no outward signs of illness (vomiting, diarrhea, bloated abdomen) then this sounds like a relatively non-emergency type situation that can be hopefully be resolved with medical treatment, if any.

I would recommend talking to your veterinarian about checking a urinalysis on Bageara. She may just have a urinary tract infection that can be treated with antibiotics. If the urine is clear then I would recommend doing blood work on her to check her kidney values. I would also remove the top to the litter box. Some cats just don't like covered boxes. Don't feel hesitant to call the emergency number that the clinic provided. If she was more awake I would advise that you try to get her to eat a small bit of food. That will often help them recover but don't try it unless she can hold her head up. One thing you can do is take some sweet liquid such as honey or sugar water and rub it on her gums and tongue without getting bit though. That may help her recover faster. Also get her warmed up. She might be cold and not recovering due to lower body temperature. Use care but warm her up somehow with warm dry towels or something else. Just use care and don't burn her. It is possible she has some kidney or liver problems and that the drugs are not being metabolized properly. The reversal agent (I'm assuming what that is) usually works faster in normal patients. Again I would call the emergency number. She may need more reversal agent or fluid therapy to speed up recovery. She is probably urinating because of the anesthetic drugs she was given. It's very good she has eaten and is drinking, and I do expect she should use the litter box soon. If she hasn't in the next 24 hours, then I would be worried and have her seen by a vet. Hi there! If Penny's lab work has been normal and she's not having any other symptoms of a problem, this may be perfectly normal for her. There are some dogs who only need to urinate 1-2 times per day (one of my current dogs is like this, in fact!) - so although I would say the average dog tends to pee more often than this, there's definitely some individual variation. If she's just now only 10-11 months old, she may be peeing less often now because her bladder control has gotten better, and her kidneys are better able to concentrate urine than when she was younger - which translates to less frequent peeing. So if she seems 100% fine otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Make sure she gets opportunities to pee at least 3-4 times a day, but if she doesn't need to go, that's okay.

I would not expect the constipation 2 weeks after a spay but sometimes urinary tract infections can occur after the surgery. Tonight try feeding Princess some canned food with a teaspoon of canned pumpkin, make sure to add extra water. Tomorrow take Princess into the vet to have her urine checked for infection. Sometimes there's not really constipation, its more straining due to the bladder being inflamed. The doctor may be able to tell if theres constipation based upon abdominal palpation.
