Why is my cat putting paws in mouth, grinding teeth, and has red gums?

I would get him in as soon as you can, but not necessarily as an emergency. It could probably wait until Monday. There good be an infected tooth, inflammation in the gums, a small ulcer or mass, or something else causing this behavior.

It's possible that Bandit has gingivitis or other oral pain causing his decrease in appetite, but there are many other diseases that cause a decreased appetite as well including a fevers or ingestion of non food items. If he seems very weak or lethargic or if he has been vomiting you may want to see an emergency veterinarian before Monday. Otherwise keep tempting him to eat and keep your appointment Monday. I would not recommend trying to brush his teeth again until your vet can take a look.

A pale/white appearance to the tissue in the mouth makes me concerned Smudge may be anemic, meaning her red blood cells may be dangerously low. If this were the case, it can be due to a bleeding disorder, autoimmune disease, cancer in the bone marrow, or secondary to another disease process in the body. With so many possible causes, more information would be needed to have an idea of what’s wrong. The important first step would be to confirm if Smudge’s red blood cells are low with an exam and a blood test at your vet (CBC or complete blood count). It's possible the pink coloration is gingivitis or it could also indicate an infection. The not eating could be related to dental pain but it could also be related to something else. I recommend to have Milo examined by the veterinarian. A physical exam is needed to begin the process of figuring out what's wrong and fixing it. This is urgent. Your cat likely has a problem with his teeth, excessive tartar, severe gingivitis and pain. Please take Mackswell to your veterinarian for an exam and schedule a dental cleaning if needed as determined by the vet.

This sounds a lot like your kitty has problems with his teeth or possibly severe gingivitis or ulcers in his mouth. If he lets you have a look, inspect his mouth for red spots, a red gum line and severe tartar, especially on the molars or any swelling. He will likely need a dental cleaning under anesthesia, if he has not had one in the last year or two. Cats get so called FORL, that is the neck of the tooth often rots underneath the gum and eventually starts hurting. Typical signs would be red gums and some swelling and not letting you have a look at his mouth. Affected cats often want to eat, go to the food, eat a little and then stop only to return later for more but few bites. Please make an appointment with your vet for an exam very soon. In the meantime feed canned food which will be less painful to eat.

That is a little biot more blood than I would like to see. Very carefully open your kitty's mouth and check the gums, teeth and tongue. There may be ulcers or an injury or he has a tooth that is meant to come out but stuck at a funny angle. If so your kitty needs to be seen by a veterinarian for an exam. If there are no wounds other than where he lost a tooth, then there is nothing you need to do and the bleeding and discomfort should go away soon.
