My 1-year-old cat is panting and cold. Is this an emergency?

Hi doc Am searching for a second opinion please This x ray is for a 1 year old cat suffering from panting started since yesterday and now her temperature is 35 c what do you think

I would be very concerned for cardiac disease or infectious disease (pneumonia) based on those radiographs. With a temperature of 35 C (95 F) that is absolutely an emergency situation. You can see panting with cardiac disease when pulmonary edema begins to develop, which is when fluid is present within the lung tissue and does not allow for adequate gas exchange to occur. I recognize that this was posted 3 days ago, but if Sasi has not been re-evaluated by her veterinarian she needs to be ASAP to determine a treatment plan and if further diagnostics are indicated (echocardiogram, airway wash, etc.).

On occasion, significant stress can trigger panting in some cats, but oftentimes there's also an underlying disease process. I strongly recommend taking Tammy to your vet or an emergency vet right away for evaluation. They'll need to perform a physical exam and will most likely recommend chest x-rays to try to get to the bottom of this situation. I hope that everything goes well for Tammy!

My kitten is still sick with fever and panting. Is she in heat?

The postures in the photos do indeed look like she is in heat currently but they do not explain the fever, panting or high heart rate. Given it has not responded to medication so far, further investigation with a chest xray and blood work to assess for infection or inflammation may be worthwhile. I would not recommend breeding her given her current symptoms as pregnancy would be an additional strain and any heart or lung condition

I'm so sorry that Thullo is injured. If he can't move this is a very serious injury and needs immediate veterinary medical treatment. Panting in a cat is also almost always an emergency indicating extreme pain or respiratory disease. I recommend you take Thullo to see a veterinarian immediately. Once a veterinarian assesses Thullo they can decide if X-rays or blood work is needed. They can also start pain medication and emergency supportive care. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do at home to help Thullo so it's best that you seek veterinary care right away.

I would recommend taking DoReMi to a veterinarian as soon as you can. It is not typical for cats to pant unless they are in extreme pain, very stressed, or in respiratory distress. Some common causes of difficulty breathing include heart disease, feline asthma, and pleural effusion (or fluid outside the lungs in the chest cavity). Even if he is just experiencing stress in his new surroundings it is much safer to have him checked out by a veterinarian than to wait until his breathing is worse.
