My pet has a painful infection. Is it serious? Can it be cured?

This can be an infection for example. I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I agree, that sore looks very painful and sore, and I'm concerned it could be infected. This should not be treated at home. I would take her into a vet immediately to get this treated. If it is infected, the vet can prescribe antibiotics. Please take her into a vet now. Best of luck.

I recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check on what may be going on so that therapy can be used accordingly. Based on your picture, it does look like he might have a skin infection of some kind, even possibly from a ruptured abscess. Does he go outside? I would recommend having him evaluated by his regular veterinarian to have area clipped, cleaned, and assessed to determine what may be going on, and what treatment (antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, or possible surgical repair) may be needed to resolve it. If he goes outside and the wound may have come from an unknown animal, I would also recommend his rabies vaccine be boostered as well. Good luck!

This growth looks like it's getting infected at the bottom. I recommend having this removed as soon as you are able. It has a small attachment to the leg so it should be able to be removed easily. Hank may get sick if the infection isn't controlled. You can keep it clean in the meantime but if it gets worse it will need treatment soon.
