My cat has fleas. Can I use an oral pill while waiting for Frontline?

If the active ingredient is Nitenpyram (I am having trouble finding this product online but I believe this is the ingredient) then it is fine to give along with Frontline. If you are having a problem with fleas in your cat you may need a prescription product that works long term from your vet such as Comfortis in addition to treating your home, all other pets, and your yard. Since both Sentry and Frontline use the same active ingredient (fipronil) it is unlikely that you will see better protection switching to the Frontline. You will need to choose a product with a different ingredient, like Advantage or Revolution or a Seresto collar. If you choose to use another topical, I would recommend bathing your kitty today to remove any remnants of the Sentry, and wait 3 days to apply the next topical. It is important to wait after bathing so that the natural body oils have time to coat the skin to ensure adequate absorption. You do not need to wait or bathe to use a Seresto collar.

Cats can be sensitive to flea medications. For that reason it is safest to wait 2 weeks between products even with different ingredients. Your vet can prescribe a cap star which is a pill that will last for a day that can help while you wait the remaining time

The two treatments are not closely related but I would still recommend 7-10days before reapplying. You do not mention why you washed off the advantage but I would recommend combing with a flea comb to remove fleas in the meantime if still present. It may be worth considering using comfortis or capstar tablets if he does not tolerate spot on medications (it is often the carrier and not the active ingredient that pets are sensitive to)

Since Frontline Plus and Revolution are 2 totally different products, you can apply the Revolution now and not wait until the full month is done. You shouldn't see any problems and if you do, I would advise calling your vet. Very occasionally cats and dogs will have problems with one topical product and not another. Just make sure that you apply it correctly right up over the neck where Negrito can't lick it off as soon as it is applied. Good luck and I hope Revolution works well for him. I do believe we are starting to see some problems with Frontline as I have witnessed the same problem last summer when using Frontline.

If you want an effective product please use one of newer ones like Cheristin. I don't think you will get any better results with Advantage. As for mixing drugs I would need to know what oral flea pill you want to give. Ideally if Eli is flea allergic she should get flea medications every month year round. Personally I see a lot of flea resistance with the Fipronil Spot On. I recommend Bravecto (topical), Comfortis (oral) or the Seresto collar for cats. I wish Eli a speedy recovery!
