Why does my cat keep getting open sores on her neck and head?

Those spots on Bella could be several things including fleas, allergies, skin mites, bacterial infection, ringworm (which humans can get) or endocrine disease. There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for cats, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesions once a day with a hypoallergenic baby wipe (not her whole body, just the lesions). Also protect the area from trauma by having your kitty wear an elizabethan collar at all times. You can also treat her for fleas. The only OTC I recommend is Frontline. Often flea allergy in cats can present like this or food allergies or environmental allergy can also cause this. I recommend getting Selene on a good prevention such as Advantage if she is not on flea prevention. If she is itchy, the bumps have any discharge or painful she needs to go to the vet to see if she needs additional treatment or diagnostics.

Your cat could have allergies, to fleas, substances in the environment, and most often, to foods. I recommend getting your cat seen by your vet for an exam and treatment and consider doing a food trial. There are commercial foods that have a single protein source. Try feeding your cat a food that contains a protein that he has never been exposed to, such as duck or venison. If his skin improves then he likely has an allergy to the protein in his old food.

That does look very uncomfortable for Yuki! And I agree that there is probably some infection present. A common cause for itching this area in pets is flea allergies. Some pets are allergic to flea saliva and it only take the bite of one flea for them to be itchy all over. Other potential causes are bacterial infections or immune issues. I recommend that Yuki see your vet so that she can get the appropriate treatment. Until your appointment you can apply a thin layer of Neosporin to the areas, just try to keep her from licking it off!

She should see her veterinarian as she will likely need an oral antibiotic and potentially a medication to control any itching.
