My cat has oozing sores and hair loss after a bite wound. What's next?

I would suspect that this could be from another cat, some other animal or a puncture wound from a sharp object. It sounds as though the lesion is infected with your description. I would recommend soaking the foot in a mixture of betadine and water until you have a light brown solution. Soak the foot with this solution twice daily for 10 minutes at a time. If the foot does not improve, I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at this so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Boomerang’s wound looks infected. This could be from a fight with another cat which could cause a more serious abscess. I recommend to go ahead and have him examined and treated at the veterinarians office. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. A dog bite would almost always leave puncture wounds but perhaps a cat bite, another trauma (landed wrong, etc). In case it is a big abscess, I’d strongly recommend you see the vet as soon as possible. It will need to be lanced, drained, and flushed and Lady will need some antibiotics. Judging from the picture, this could be a ruptured abscess or secondary to self trauma from him scratching at the area. I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment recommendations can be made. He will need the hair clipped from around the wound and the wound cleaned. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Boots. I do recommend that she sees a veterinarian today. The ear wound needs to be thoroughly cleaned and and examined. She may need antibiotics or even surgery to help it heal. In the meantime, do not allow her to paw at it. Place an E-collar on her if needed to prevent any further self trauma. These sound like wounds from being in a bad fight with another cat. It’s best to have these treated by your veterinarian if you can. In the meantime clean each wound with hydrogen peroxide and then apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on them. I’m concerned about the ones around his anus. There may be a tear in the rectum that may be very serious and need a veterinary exam to determine if the feces are coming out the wound. If so this could cause more infection and may need to be stitched closed. Antibiotics will help these wounds heal more quickly also. This is an open and infected skin wound. It may be the result of trauma (cat fight) or self inflicted from scratching ( fleas or ear mites). A hands on exam by a veterinarian can help you to determine the cause and also prescribe an antibiotic and assess the wound.
