Cat has oozing, scabbed bumps under eyes. What's wrong & how to treat?

Skin lesions can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, or a combination of the above. The vet will likely want to look at a sample from the area under the microscope to determine if there is an infection and to figure out what medication is appropriate for treatment. In the meantime, you can bathe Ash in hypoallergenic shampoo for cats to clean the area, and put an e-collar (cone) on Ash to help reduce the risk of scratching at the area, but this will likely not resolve the lesions.

I'm glad to hear that Mr. Tibbs does not seem to be bothered by this bump. This lesion could be an abscessed wound, infected mass, infected cyst, etc. Anytime pus is present, this is indicative of white blood cells working to fight infection. I recommend taking Mr. Tibbs to his vet both for a course of antibiotics and to determine the cause of this lesion. He may need to have a needle aspirate performed to draw out a few cells with a needle and then examine them microscopically. This is a common place for kitties to develop lesions when they are having a chronic allergy. Some possibilities include food allergy, flea allergy, medication allergy, or environmental allergy. The first step is to ensure he is on a good course of flea preventative. Dietary allergies are usually ruled out by performing a diet trial - feeding a special prescription hypoallergenic food for a period of time. If it turns out he has an environmental allergy, he may need seasonal or lifelong allergy treatment. A short course of anti-inflammatory steroid medication may be needed to resolve this inflammation. A local veterinarian can examine Benny and help determine which course of action is best based on his history and what seems the most likely cause.

I have to admit that from the pics I cannot really understand if there is only one lesion or more bumps/lumps there. Generally speaking, this presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria or fungal). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics or antifungal meds (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Skin scrapes and small biopsies (if not already taken) can help to diagnose underlying cause of it. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. Skin lesions like you are describing can have a variety of causes, including skin parasites (fleas or mites), an infection (bacterial or fungal), allergies, or another underlying medical issue. I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his skin lesions, so he could start any treatment (antibiotics, anti-itch medications, parasiticide) that he may need. In the meantime, I would clean the area will diluted betadine if possible and then keep it dry, and trim his nails back as much as possible to keep him from scratching at it. Good luck!

That looks like an infection with how red it is and the fur lose. Allergies and skin mites would be other potential causes though less common. There may not be much you can do at home. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for pets, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. Also protect the area from trauma by having your kitty wear an elizabethan collar at all times. This may be an abscess, a cyst or a tumor. You should have it examined by your veterinarian, as it is not possible to distinguish these by just looking at a photo. An abscess can usually be treated with antibiotics and/or be lanced, and a cyst can be evacuated. To identify a tumor, your vet may want to do a fine needle aspirate (he takes some material from the bump with a needle and then looks at it under the microscope) to determine whether the mass is concerning.
