What's this bald, stiff bump under my cat's chin that doesn't hurt?

Ash should be examined by his veterinarian. The most common causes of this type of lesion are an infection, an autoimmune condition called an eosinophilic granuloma, a tooth root abscess, an allergic reaction or an injury such as a burn. A physical exam and possibly some bloodwork will help to determine the cause so that he can receive appropriate treatment. I hope this helps.

A lump with hair loss around it could be caused by a number of different things. Buzz may have an abscess due to some type of wound, a localized inflammatory reaction or infection of some kind, or even some type of cyst or skin tumor. I would recommend having the lump checked by a vet when you are able to. He/she may be able to identify it based on its appearance and how it feels, or may recommend a simple test called a fine needle aspirate to find out for sure what it is. Buzz may need antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication to treat the problem, or the lump may need to be surgically removed.

The fact that the lesions have appeared on both sides of the face in nearly identifcal locations almost makes me think that Benjamin maybe stuck his face in something that cause some sort of reaction resulting in what you are seeing there. I can't think of any other reason why the face would have been affected in such a way. As your veterinarian already indicated, there is really no way to be certain or precise about what we are seeing without tests like skin cytology and/or biopsy to send out to the lab. These tests can be time-consuming and expensive, but will ultimately give you the answers you might be looking for. If this isn't a possibility, I would treat the lesions with antibiotics and pain management, and get Benjamin on an antibiotic that is good for injections of the skin. There are plenty from which to choose. If the lesions are not cleared up within a week to ten days, I would revisit the idea of diagnostic testing. Hope this makes sense.

Skin lesions like you are describing can have a variety of causes, including skin parasites (fleas or mites), an infection (bacterial or fungal), allergies, or another underlying medical issue. I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his skin lesions, so he could start any treatment (antibiotics, anti-itch medications, parasiticide) that he may need. In the meantime, I would clean the area will diluted betadine if possible and then keep it dry, and trim his nails back as much as possible to keep him from scratching at it. Good luck!

Pets can get many types of lumps and bumps. Most of these tumors will be benign but some will be malignant and you can't tell by looks. If the bump is still there in 2 weeks, I recommend to have it checked out to be safe. The doctor may recommend to aspirate the mass to examine the cells under a microscope. That is one of the best ways to know what it is and if further action is needed. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Those look like pretty inflamed lesions. There are a few things that come to mind. Cats can get an autoimmune condition called eosinophilic granuloma that requires steroids for treatment and maybe antibiotics to control secondary infections. Check the house and make sure there's no possibility should could have touched something very hot or gotten into anything that could cause a chemical burn. Lastly, fleas and ringworm can be brought in on your shoes/clothing although this would be an abnormal presentation. Rarely, pets can get skin cancer that looks similar to this. I recommend to have Shadow checked out by her veterinarian since this is a mystery and she has two lesions. It's better to be safe. The infectious component would have to be taken care of but it is crucial to take care of the possible allergy as well so this does not continue to happen. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!
