Why does my cat only like me and avoid other people? Should I worry?

Some cats are like that and just trust one person they pick. If she has been like that for several years and is not showing affection or trust in anyone else in the house, she will likely not change. Feel honored that she picked you as her person! You can have others in the house give her her food, which may or may not make a difference.

Some cats are very talkative, and can respond when people speak to them. I have a Ragdoll who meows when I call his name, and comes when I call him. He may love your scent, which is why he takes your stuff only. He just sounds very attached to you.

However, there are some diseases that may cause changes in attitude. This includes hyperthyroidism and rarely acromegaly. Other signs with these diseases include increased drinking and urinations, a ravenous appetite, and weight loss. This can be screened with routine bloodwork, so have him evaluated by your veterinarian for these. Some kitties are "man"cats and like men better than women. It could be that his original owner was a man. It is normal. I have one like this, too. I got the cat and he decided he liked my husband better and now my husband belongs to him and I do not exist :D .

It is not unusual for cats to be extremely wary of visitors and defensive in their own territory, or to have favorites among family members. Pheromone products and calming diets can help but are unlikely to fundamentally change the behavior you describe

If you took her to a vet and she appears healthy than it just might be her personality. Some cats prefer to hide from people and are not very social while other cats are very social and love to be around people. If she is eating well and maintaining a healthy weight than it might not be anything to worry about. If you are still concerned than you could take her back to the vet and have them run routine bloodwork looking for potential problems.
