Is it okay to feed my cat only fish-flavored wet and dry food daily?

Feeding a fish based commercial diet that is nutritionally complete is just fine as long as Cinderella is not allergic to the fish in the food you are giving. Cats that are fed raw fish frequently is more of the concern as they can develop serious nutritional deficits and vitamin deficiencies such as Thiamine deficiency which can be deadly. It is for this reason feeding raw fish primarily to cats is not recommended. However, feeding a small amount of tuna from a can occasionally as a treat is okay and will not cause a vitamin deficiency as long as they are also eating a commercially prepared food. No need to change the food Cinderella is enjoying now. From what you described, it sounds like she has tried a few foods that may have been giving her runny stools so if she is doing well on this particular food from Taste of the Wild, then I would keep her on that. It is quite alright if little Oliver does not eat dry food. Canned food has a higher protein and moisture content as well as less carbs than dry food. Cats do not "need" carbohydrates but do need a high protein diet, especially growing kittens. Feed a good quality canned food that comes from the can looking like a hockey puck. Read the ingredients and confirm there is named protein source of animal, not plant, origin. Avoid by-products and meat meals. Stay away from store or discount brands too, these typically contain low quality ingredients and more fillers.

It certainly doesn't hurt Her Khan to eat both diets. I do shy away from using any exotic meats such as rabbit or venison, just in case he were to develop IBD as an older cat. It is not necessarily "healthier" than wet food. Most commercial cat diets, whether dry or canned/wet, are formulated to be balanced in the appropriate macro- and micronutrients that cats require as part of their daily nutrition. As long as Bandit is eating an appropriate amount of the dry commercial cat food (there should be feeding amounts based on weight on the bag), giving him extra food in the form of tuna and salmon is OK. Just be careful about giving him too many calories, as this can cause him to be overweight. Obesity in cats is linked to many disease processes such as arthritis, diabetes and liver disease. I recommend asking your veterinarian to help you determine the correct amounts of each food that you should be offering Bandit to keep him at a healthy weight. I hope this is helpful!

Absolutely! Dry food only diets are perfectly fine for kittens, provided that you are offering a diet formulated for growth, like a kitten or all life stage diet. Oliver can be transitioned to an adult cat food when he is 1 year old. Any time you change the food, be sure to do so gradually by mixing the old and new foods together for 5-7 days.
