My cat has an oily spot on her back and is vomiting. Are they related?

I would make sure that you got all the oil and rinse well after washing. She was probably sitting underneath a car and got oily that way. I would observe her for a day and if she shows no sign of illness there is no need to take her to a vet.

It could be a severe skin infection or an acute allergic reaction. I would recommend a vet check up so that she can get some treatment on board. These reactions can be quite painful and cause itchiness. Vomiting could also be a sign of allergic reaction, leave water down but no food until you see your vet. I would arrange a visit this morning, if possible.

Poor Nova! I don't think you're over-reacting at all, these are definitely signs that something isn't right. There are many things that could cause scabs or sores on her back. The most common possibilities would include allergies (food allergies, or an allergy to something in the environment), fleas, a bacterial or fungal skin infection, or skin mites (mange). The vomiting could be related if Nova has food allergies, or it could be due to a separate problem. Treatment for these issues will depend on what the underlying problem is, so I would recommend taking Nova to the vet for an exam when you are able to. He/she can do some simple skin tests and may also recommend blood work if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

These things may be unrelated. Annia could have a GI illness or may have eaten something rotten causing the vomiting, while the spots on her face could be from an injury or skin infection. Have her seen by a vet for both these problems.

There may also be a systemic cause or infection. I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at her and run some tests such as bloodwork and abdominal x-rays. It looks a bit like scar tissue. If pumpkin had a wound or local skin infection this could be the result. If you use a topical flea preventative she may have had a reaction. If you see any other spots in her body or under her belly, I would have her checked out by a vet. I don’t think it is related to the vomiting. There are many possible causes. But I would discuss it with your vet. Intestinal parasites and food sensitivity would be the most common cause.

It sounds as if Meeko has gotten into something, potentially amsomething toxic that is making her act abnormally. First, I would recommend bathing her to try and remove whatever oilynsubstance she has gotten on her coat. If it is something toxic and she tries to lick it off it could make her sicker. Continue to try to feed her and keep her as comfortable as possible. If she is still not eating after 48 hours you may want to consider taking her to the vet. If Meeko starts acting even more abnormally, starts vomiting and/or having diarrhea or if she has seizures (a common side effect of some toxins) then she will need to be see by your vet.
