My female cat isn't pregnant after mating. Is it him or her?

Sometimes a mating doesn't take, and the cat doesn't get pregnant. It could also be due to a health problem, such as an infection of the uterus called a pyometra. I would take her into the vet for an exam to make sure she is healthy. Cats go into heat multiple times a year, so if she didn't get pregnant this time, she could possibly get pregnant her next heat.

This is normal. You can separate them for a few hours a day then reintroduce them to help build anticipation. But yes it is common for them to mate multiple times during her heat cycle. Hi and thanks for your request. Probably she is not accepting the male as she is not in heat or she is already pregnant. As said in a previous question, I would recommend to separate them as you suggested or castrate the males to avoid further unwanted pregnancies.

If the female is in heat, she'll allow breeding. If she's just flopping over, it's possible she isn't currently in heat, and that's why it isn't working out. Cats tend to be seasonal breeders where they go into heat starting in the spring and will stay in heat until fall or until they become pregnant. I also highly recommend having both cats seen by a theriogenologist (veterinary reproductive specialist) to ensure both cats are healthy and OK to breed together. If the cats did not actually breed then she wouldn't become pregnant. If she goes outdoors it is possible pregnancy could occur from another cat, or if these 2 were unsupervised it is possible they had a successful mating when you weren't home. If you aren't planning on breeding your cat in the future I would recommend getting her spayed.
