Why is my cat barely eating, dropping food, and won't take meds?

Sometime administer medications in cats can be very tricky. Have you tried to crush the pill and mix it with a little bit of wet food? Unfortunately if he doesn't eat anything he might need to have the medication injected by the vet for few days. If the symptoms are not improving and the clinical examination is completely normal, I would suggest to perform some basic blood work to try to understand why Billy refuses food. If this medication was prescribed by your veterinarian and your cat is still vomiting despite the medication then I would seek veterinary care immediately. If the medication was NOT prescribed by your veterinarian then please do not give any more, and take your cat in for evaluation. You do not mention how old the kitty is-any number of issues could be going on. A foreign body obstruction in the intestinal tract, a gastrointestinal infection, dietary indiscretion, a cancerous process, even renal failure can cause the symptoms you have noted. Your cat needs a thorough physical exam and your vet May recommend some diagnostics such as xrays and bloodwork. I hope your kitty feels better soon.

It's best to get the medicine in him, especially if it is an antibiotic. If there is something your cat cannot resist, such as cheese, or yogurt, try giving it to him after you give the medicine. I'm sorry that you are dealing with this with Laundry. There are a number of anti-nausea medications that can be helpful for Laundry. And if your veterinarian has not recently checked his blood work (including a thyroid level) and blood pressure, I would certainly recheck those values to make sure that they are normal. Then, you can discuss the best anti-nausea medication with your veterinarian to help Laundry feel better. Poor Clementine, it is a lot to go through at her age, however I am confident she can get better. I would not worry about the ointment if the abscess has already scabbed over. You can try cleaning the pus away gently with some cotton wool and lukewarm water, if she allows you to do so. As her sense of smell is probably affected, you need to offer her food that smells quite strong such as tuna in water, or boiled cod, or Hill’s recovery wet food. In particular, this last food is in a pate form, and it can be made a bit more watery by adding some water to aid water intake. You could warm it up slightly in the microwave, and offer it afterwards. Always start small with portions, and if eating increase the portion and offer again in 2 hours. If she is still not eating by this afternoon best to have her checked over as she could benefit from being rehydrated and have her temperature rechecked as it could still be up a bit. Hope she makes some progress soon.
