My cat's not eating, drooling, and looks skinny. Is he sick?

I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. Chipotle sounds like and appears to be quite ill based on your description/photos. The drooling could be do to nausea (which can be due to many different diseases), infection in the mouth or the throat or nasal passages, tumors in these areas. He needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to determine what is causing these symptoms.

That's pretty dramatic weight loss which indicates something serious is going on. The "goo" from his mouth could indicate a tooth infection (perhaps he's not eating because his mouth is so painful), or he could be excessively drooling from nausea, which could indicate a systemic disease such as diabetes or kidney disease. Ashton needs to be seen by a vet as soon as possible. Your vet will be able to perform a good oral exam to see if the problem is coming from his mouth, and if no obvious issue is seen, they will need to run bloodwork to check his organ function. It's very important to bring him in as soon as possible, as cats who aren't eating are at risk of other problems, such as hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) which can make him sicker. Hello. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. So sorry Frank is having this issue. It sounds pretty serious. There are many things that could be going on with him. His symptoms are not specific for any one illness or disease process. All the symptoms don't seem to go together either: increased appetite but drooling and weight loss..... seems odd. Some of the things that come to mind that would be at the top of my list would be: * dental issue (ie: infected tooth, oral tumor) * kidney failure * poisoning/toxicity * liver failure * thyroid disease * cancer I suggest you get Frank to your vet for an exam and some blood testing to start with. Many of the issues I listed above can be ruled in/out with simple blood testing. This is not something that is going to resolve on it's own at home. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Poor SoCo sounds extremely ill, and the symptoms you are describing are a medical emergency. As a senior cat, he could have many things wrong with him including dental problems, diabetes, kidney failure, hyperthyroidism, liver failure, or cancer among others. He needs veterinary care now to diagnose what is causing all his symptoms so he can be treated. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

You need to take Rascal into a vet first thing in the morning. He could have a medical problem such as diabetes, kidney failure, hyperthyroidism, and cancer causing him to lose weight and his other health problems. I recommend having a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis done. Please take him into the vet in the morning.

In an older cat, my first thought would be dental disease. This would be painful for Krinkle, cause him to eat less, and subsequent weight loss. It could also be that he has diabetes, kidney failure, or hyperthyroidism. Having him seen by a vet this week is a good idea. I hope this helps!

I would be concerened about oral disease if Cuddle's saliva smells gross. It can be caused by a diseased tooth, gum disease, cancer, oral infection, etc. You can try offering a variety of cat foods to entice him to eat, and you can also try to put wet food in a blender and make liquid that can be lapped up.
