Why is my cat not eating, drooling, and making gargling sounds?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Hi! My cat hasn't been eating very well from yesterday night till now, he only ate a small amount then walks away. I thought he wasn't hungry. I began to be concerned, he began drooling before bed. I tried feeding him, but he barely touched his food. Then, he meowed at me with gargling noises this afternoon when I tried to check on him if he's hurt. He looked like he was tearing up close. Since we went into lockdown we can't go to a Vet. Please tell me what to do. I'm very worried about him.

It's hard to say what could be causing this. Possible reasons include oral pain, something stuck in the mouth or throat, periodontal disease, oral mass, viral infection, among other things. You can try liquid foods, baby food, or even putting canned cat food in a blender to make a liquid.
