Why are my cat's nipples irritated and scabby? Is it serious?

This looks like the nipple and surrounding skin is inflammed from an injury or contact with something irritating. You can clean the area with a warm wet cloth. I wouldn't put anything on it as that may make him lick it. This should improve over the next few days. If it gets worse, more discharge or he's itching the area then I would take him in for an exam. He may need an antibiotic injection and something to reduce the inflammation. From the photo this is nothing to be overly concerned about. It probably wasn't her nipple but a build up of dead skin and sebaceous material collecting around the nipple itself. If it doesn't bother her and she's not licking excessively, then there is likely no cause for concern. Monitor the redness for resolution.

She could have a infection or allergic dermatitis. You could bathe her with a medicated cat shampoo and see if that helps. Otherwise, have your vet take a look at her to determine the cause and treat the problem. She may need an antibiotic and/or anti-inflammatory to treat.

This nipple was irritated by a scrape or insect bite I think, then Mishi started licking it excessively causing it to be more inflammed today with the hair loss. I recommend using a cone on him to prevent licking. Then clean the area with hydrogen peroxide and you can apply a thin film of cortisone cream on it to soothe the skin. If it isn’t improving then you should bring him in for an exam and treatment. This will continue to get worse if he keeps licking the area. Hello from across the pond! I would try and keep it clean by washing the lesion with a mild soap and water. Nothing else to keep from irritating the wound further. From the pictures you posted, it does look like there is a bit of yellow discharge coming from the wound indicating an infection. You vet may prescribe antibiotics when you see him/her soon.

Hello, sorry to hear about your cat. The picture is a little blurry. It could be a scab from a small laceration that will heal on its own and you do not have to do anything about it. A single scab is not consistent with scabies, although, the only way to rule out scabies is by looking for it under a microscope. However, if there was scabies you see it more around the face, ears, and arms of cats. Make sure that Pussy has adequate, monthly flea control especially if she is scratching around her belly and tail/rump area. Hope this helps and best of luck.
