My cat has mustard-colored, mucousy, loose poop for 3 days. Why?

Sometimes even a simple diet switch from one food to another is enough to cause intestinal inflammation or bacterial imbalance and diarrhea in cats. Though his risk is low, it's also possible he could have an intestinal parasite (cannot be ruled out without a fecal test). You can try adding one tbsp of canned pumpkin to his diet for fiber. If he does not improve soon, it would be best to take him to a vet. Sometimes a short course of medication is necessary to resolve this type of diarrhea.

Loose stools can be from a number of things including food allergies, parasites, underlying illness, changes in diet, etc. If you haven't changed Felix's food at all, and he's still having loose stool, bringing him or a sample of his stool into your vet for a complete exam and fecal test is a good idea to help rule out common issues.

Hi there. It sounds like Dora either has a GI infection (from a virus, bacteria or parasite) or he's become allergic to the protein in his food. You can try switching his food to a hypoallergenic diet (I like the hydrolyzed protein diet from Royal Canin). Keep in mind it can take several weeks for the loose stool to resolve after switching. Ideally Dora should be seen by a vet before doing this. If he has a simple infection, you vet can check his feces and figure out what's causing the loose stool and prescribe medication to stop the loose stool. Issues with faeces such as these can be indicative of issues in the gut. It could just be inflammation such as gastroenteritis or colitis, but sometimes it can indicate problems such as inflammatory bowel disease or tumours etc. You could try adding a probiotic to both of their feed and see if that helps, but I think it would be worth taking them both to the vet for an exam if it continues for more than a day or so.

Diarrhea for 2 days does warrant a vet visit since it is not clearing up. They can check her stool sample for parasites or bacteria and make sure an ultrasound is not needed and she is not getting dehydrated from having it so much.
