How to protect my cat from mosquitoes and heal her bitten nose?

These little bumps are often caused by knats and insect bite allergies. In addition to what you are doing before Luna goes out I'd put some cat safe flea and insect repellent on a cloth and wipe the ears, forehead and neck area. Please do not get this in her eyes and nose. This will help keep the knats and insects off her when she's outside. Then use the wound spray when she comes inside to treat the sores. In dogs, itching at the ears is a sign of an ear infection, but those can be caused by yeast or bacteria in addition to ear mites. There's no problem giving Bella the Revolution, as she needs protection from fleas, but have her seen by the vet for scratching at her ears to make sure this behavior isn't caused by bacteria or yeast. That area does look a bit flaky and irritated, however, it would be hard to say what's causing it without an in-person exam. It's a good idea to use an Elizabethan (cone) collar on June to keep her from scratching or pawing at it which can make the spot worse and lead to a secondary infection. Removing the debris and keeping the spot clean and dry can also help. If this doesn't help resolve it, the spot worsens, is oozing dirt or debris, has a strange smell, or swells, these are all signs there may be an infection, parasites, allergic reactions, etc going on which should be seen by your vet ASAP.

Poor kitty! It's possible it's the Revolution but reactions are generally localized to the area where the product was applied. The only way to know for sure is to change your product and see if things get better. Advantage Multi is another product similar to Revolution but a different make up. Other reasons for chronic skin lesions and itching are allergies to fleas, allergies to something in the environment, food allergy or endocrine disease. Each one of these problems is detected and addressed differently and I recommend to discuss with your veterinarian which one to start hunting down first. Fleas are less common since you are using a medication like Revolution. You may want to use a flea comb and check your kitty and the kitten for any evidence of fleas just to be sure there are none. Comb around the lower back and between the hind legs. Food allergy is best ruled out with a diet trial using a hydrolyzed protein. Endocrine diseases are detected with blood work. Environmental allergies are a little more difficult to detect but a response to therapy or a blood test can give an indication. Once you figure out and address the underlying cause, the lesions should not come back. There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for petss, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing his diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. If he hasn't been on prevention he should be tested and started. There are a few products that are license to repel mosquito's: Vectra 3D, K9 Advantix II and Biospot. You can try to rub some Avon Skin So soft on his face (avoid eyes and moth) before letting him out at dusk. I wish you the best!
