My cat miscarried and has rapid breathing. What should I do?

I'm sorry that this is happening but she needs to be examined by a vet. You must realize that not all problems can be fixed at home. If she had a "miscarriage" then she could still have some retained tissues in her uterus that is making her sick. That cannot be fixed without a vet. We cannot possibly diagnose her over the internet without an in-person examination and more information (besides the fact that it is illegal). We are only here to offer advice. I know you love your cat and because you do, it is your responsibility to seek medical treatment when she is ill. She is going to continue to get pregnant and possibly have issues unless you get her spayed. I strongly recommend you have her spayed once she is back to feeling better.

I'm so sorry that Preciosa is experiencing a miscarriage! Given that she is weak and lethargic, I would have her seen by a vet immediately. She needs veterinary attention to prevent hemorrhage or infection that can result if tissue remains in the uterus.

Any animal, particularly this young and presumably not fully vaccinated, with respiratory signs, should be seen my a veterinarian. If your Kitkat appears to be in true respiratory distress, this should be considered and emergency and should be seen right away. Signs of true respiratory distress in a cat would be open mouth breathing, pale white to blue mucous membranes (open mouth and look at gums), fainting episodes, or resting respiration of more than 30-40.

I would contact your vet about this and have additional pain medications prescribed. Rapid breathing and trouble urinating could be signs of pain especially after a spay procedure. When an animal is hit by a car sometimes there are injuries you can't see from the outside. They can bleed internally, herniate organs from the belly in to the chest, get contusions (bruising) of the lung or air can get trapped outside of the lungs (pneumothorax), rupture their bladders, brain trauma. Cats can also breath heavily when they are in shock. Sadly there is nothing that you can do alone. He needs a Vet to listen to his lungs and evaluate him for internal bleeding and shock. Just keep him warms and comfortable if you can't get him anywhere I wish you both the best!
