Why is my cat suddenly meowing loudly and peeing in the house?

Snupe could be yeowling because he wants to go roaming for females with which to mate, and he may be marking his territory with urine. I'd have him seen by a vet for this problem, and get him neutered.

If it is an abrupt change in behavior, it could signal some kind of discomfort, physical, such as a bladder infection or some other ailment making him painful, or something mentally distressing him, like a strange cat outside, being in a new place. If he seems fine physically, i.e. eating, drinking, eliminating normally, being his usual self, I would keep an eye on it. If you see any symptoms of illness, get him in to see your vet as soon as possible. Check around and see if you can identify when/where it is happening and if there is anything that might be causing him to vocalize.

I see that Lucifer isn't neutered. More than likely, he has reached sexually maturity, and wants to go out to find females with which to mate. Probably soon he will start urine marking in the house to mark his territory. Even letting him out to mate will not stop the behavior, it will continue. If you want to stop this behavior completely, have him neutered. Best of luck.

Hello, These sound like normal behaviors for an intact male cat- more independence, roaming, territory marking, and calling for a mate at night. You could have him neutered to overall reduce these behaviors if you find them unfavorable.

Oh dear, poor Prince! I'm extremely concerned that he is vocalizing and has been in and out of the litter box. As a male cat, he's at an increased risk of developing a urethral obstruction, which is a blockage that prevents him from emptying his bladder. Some cats can develop partial blockages, which allow them to still dribble small amounts of urine, but even this are a major problem. If Prince has a urethral obstruction, this is an immediately life-threatening emergency. You should take him to an emergency veterinarian right away for treatment. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Since he isn’t neutered he could smell a female cat in heat outside and want to mate. Be sure he is urinating, male cats are at risk for urinary obstructions. Sometimes they vocalized. If he is a senior cat, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) can cause increased vocalization. If Toby is not neutered it could very likely be related to reaching sexual maturity and a desire to b let our to find a mate. The only behaviors that will be affected by neutering are those that are under the influence of male and female hormones. So for example, a cat's temperament, training, and personality, are related to genetics and upbringing, not hormones. Neutering does not “calm” an excitable cat, and unless a neutered animal is overfed or underexercised, there is no reason for it gain weight or become inactive. The undesired traits which are related to theae hormones such as sexual behaviours, aggression, and urine marking will change over the course of a few days to a few months. If Toby is neutered it Cooke be s the first signs of an illness. As cats will often become more vocal when in pain.
