Why is my cat losing weight, has pale gums, and acting strange?

Depending on his age, this can be caused by a number of conditions - infections, urinary issues, or even certain cancers. If you are concerned that Bubba has not been himself, he should be seen by his vet. Your vet can perform bloodwork and x-rays to ensure that Bubba's organs are functioning normally and that he does not have any masses present. Poor Bum Bum! It sounds like he's quite sick. Unfortunately, not eating, weight loss, and laying in his litter box are all very vague symptoms that could be caused by almost any kind of illness. It's possible that his respiratory infection is causing him to feel sick and not eat, or he may have a more serious problem such as liver or kidney disease. Regardless of the underlying cause, when a cat doesn't eat for more than 24 hours this always requires a vet visit - not eating for multiple days can cause serious liver issues and even death in cats, even if the original problem was relatively minor. Your vet can do some lab tests to help determine what's wrong and get Bum Bum started on appropriate treatment right away.

Oh that does not sound good. Throwing up so much warrants an urgent visit to the veterinarian and some blood tests checking kidney and thyroid parameters. Pale gums could point to a blood disease. The signs are very unspecific, therefore blood tests are necessary to help with a diagnosis. Please schedule an appointment with your veterinarian tomorrow.

Good morning! It sounds as if Bunky might have diabetes, or kidney problems, or even an excessive amount of thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism), based on the weight loss, and excessive thirst. Unfortunately, these are conditions that would need to be diagnosed by blood and urine tests, which would involve taking him to see his vet. Thyroid problems are very treatable with an oral medication, and diabetes is treatable with daily insulin injections, or sometimes just with a special food your vet can prescribe. At home, there isn't too much that you can do; I wish there was more I could suggest!

Poor guy. This sounds worrisome for sure. I would use some caution here and get Boba seen by your vet right away. He could have an underlying illness going on such as kidney disease that is causing his symptoms. The vet needs to do some bloodwork and a urinlaysis to start and try to find out what is causing him to be so ill. Hi! So sorry to hear that Paris is not feeling well. It sounds like Paris is anemic based on the color of her gums and the fact that she does not feel well which means that she is clinically affected. I recommend that you have Paris evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible to figure out what is wrong and start therapy for it. At the very least, she could have bloodwork done to see if she truly is anemic and go from there. Keeping my fingers crossed that evrything goes well!!

Poor Cye Cye! It definitely sounds like something is wrong. If her gums look yellow, this is a very serious sign - it can be caused by liver disease, or certain types of anemia. Weight loss and decreased appetite are non-specific signs that can be caused by almost any kind of illness. Since this sounds like it may be a life-threatening problem, I would really recommend taking Cye Cye to an emergency clinic tonight if possible. The veterinarian there can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and see what can be done to help her. If you're not sure where to go, try calling your regular vet's office. Their voicemail message should have contact information for an on-call doctor or your nearest emergency clinic.
