My cat is limping after vaccination. Is it normal? Should I see a vet?

Is limping normal after vaccination . My cat was given vaccination yesterday and now he is limping on his right back leg after vaccination. Though he is walking, he is not jumping or running as he used to. Should I take him to vet again?

Occasionally, vaccines may cause some discomfort at the site of injection. This should resolve in a day or two. Monitor Ammu for 24-48 hours. If the lameness persists or worsens, have him rechecked by your veterinarian.

Hello! You can see some pain after injections, and that could be why Noushi is limping. Do NOT give her any human pain medications, many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. You can try apply a cold compress to the area to see if that helps with the pain. The pain should go away in 24-48 hours, so rest her as much as possible, and keep her indoors if she is allowed outside. If the pain gets worse or doesn't go away over this time period, then I would take her back into the vet. Best of luck.

It sounds as is Eevee is painful. This can occasionally happen from vaccines or she may have done injured herself playing or jumping. I would contact her veterinary clinic where she had her vaccines to see what they recommend or take her in for an exam. Vaccinations can sometimes cause fever which may make cats sore as well. Keep her confined to a small area until you get her seen, try to limit her jumping and running around if she's painful and make sure she is eating, drinking and using the litter box normally.

Why is my kitten limping and lethargic after her booster shots?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Peaches. It is unusual for her to limping on a rear limb if the vaccines were given between the should blades. I recommend contacting her veterinarian today to ask if the lameness is is associated with her vaccines. For example, the feline leukemia vaccines is typically given in the left rear limb. If so, they may prescribe pain medication for her. If not, then she should be examined again as she may have a new problem. In the meantime, keep her quiet and do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to cats. I hope this information helps!

My dog is limping after his vaccine at Petco. Is this normal?

It is possible that the injection site is hurting a bit. We inject about 1cc under the skin and sometimes a dog reacts a bit sensitive to the vaccine. This is just a temporary effect and the pain should go away within 48 hours. Sometimes there is a swelling and that should also go away within about 48 hours. If the pain and/or swelling persists you will have to take Guss to a vet to have it examined, as in very rare cases the pet can get an injection abscess that would then need to be lanced,

My cat was limp and weak after her first shots. What happened?

It sounds like Lilly may have had a delayed hypersensitivity reaction to one of her vaccinations. You should call your vet and mention it so that in the future, they can give only vaccine at a time and/or keep her at the hospital for the day when she is getting vaccinated so they can watch her. As long as she is back to normal now she should be fine. If she still doesn't seem right to you tomorrow you should get her back to your vet for a recheck exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Why is my dog limping and in pain after a recent vaccine shot?

Usually the pain only lasts a few days. I find massaging the area helps them to feel better, also taking her for several short leash walks usually relaxed the muscle soreness that is probably causing the lameness. If the limp continues more than a few days please bring her in for an exam as that would be unusual from a vaccination and they will want to find the reason for the lameness. My dog is limping after his rabies shot. Is this a normal reaction?

Not entirely normal but sometimes pain at the injection site can occur. Is he limping on the leg the vaccine was given in? If not, then no. If yes, then maybe. Do you feel anything at the site of injection? Best plan is to call your vet so they can make a note in his record that this occurred and discuss with you if pain medication is needed. If the limp is in a different leg then something else is likely causing the limp which require an exam with your vet.
