My cat is lethargic, vomiting, and has a low temp. Should I go to vet?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 7 years and 10 months old | 15.4 lbs

My cat eats well, but sleeps more than usual and more “lifeless”. His temperature is 36.8 celsius...is this a normal temp? He did throw up yesterday morning as well. Should I take him to the vet?

This temperature is slightly below normal. Normal temp is 37.7 to 38.8. We can sometimes see the body temp be a bit below normal when their blood circulation is less not as good as it should be — most often we see this this due to heart disease or dehydration. If he is very dumpy and lethargic (which is what I assume you mean by “lifeless”) and recently vomited as well, please take him to your vet. They may recommend blood tests and possibly xrays. Treatment will depend on what they find on exam and any testing.

Yes i would take her in to a clinic. Mobile vets are limited in what they can do diagnostically and treatment wise for sick pets. These sound like concerning symptoms. They can assess for a fever, dehydration, and pain. Likely bloodwork, felv/fiv testing, and xrays will be recommended as the first steps. My cat is weak, vomiting, and lethargic after being outside in cold.

It's hard to know exactly what could be going on. She may have gotten hypothermic, she may have had a seizure, she may have been feeling bad before going outside and been looking for somewhere quiet. Regardless, since she's vomited a few times and has been lethargic for 10 hours, I would consider taking her to an emergency room for evaluation tonight. If she still seems very sleepy tomorrow, she should definitely be evaluated. Good luck to you both!

My cat is sick, not eating, and has a high temperature. What to do?

I strongly recommend getting your cat seen by your vet as soon as possible. Cats can sometimes get fevers with no known origin and it makes them not want to eat. A cat cannot go more than a couple days without eating before they develop liver damage. Your cat may need fluids and supportive care in order to lower his temperature back to normal and support him until his appetite returns.

My cat has a 103.3 fever, low energy, and won't eat. Is it an emergency?

The temperature itself isn’t an emergency, but it is definitely a fever. If he goes outdoors I would start feeling all over for an abscess from a fight. I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon, but as long as there are no other clinical signs such as difficulty breathing etc then I think having him seen by your veterinarian tomorrow is appropriate. Why is my cat cold, not eating, throwing up, and sleeping all day?

When pets have a drop in body temperature, it generally indicates they are very sick. Pets can become hypothermic due to severe infections, poisons or a ruptured internal tumor or organ. All of these conditions are potentially fatal. I recommend to have Zivac examined by his veterinarian quickly. It's always better to play it safe. I am sorry to hear that Meaw isn’t feeling well. A normal temperature for a cat is around 100-102 F. A fever could absolutely make her lethargic. If this has been going on for more than one day then I would encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible.
