Why is my cat weak, sleepy, not eating, and third eyelid showing?

The symptoms are so vague we cannot day what is going on without diagnostics. I would recommend getting some blood work on Bootsie. If the blood work is normal then I would recommend getting an X-ray. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

It sounds as Boots is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Lethargy and weakness can be caused by many different disease, and in an older cat this is more likely due to his kidneys not working. The third-eyelids coming up can be caused by dehydration, which can be related to kidney disease, diabetes, and other diseases. It sounds like Rudy should be seen by a vet. I would recommend getting Rudy into the vet as soon as they are open. If there is a 24 hour clinic this is an option as well, as it sounds like Rudy might need 24 hour care. There can be many medical causes for decreased appetite, decreased thirst and lethargy. There is really nothing that can be done for at home for this without getting a diagnosis first from Bobo's veterinarian. I would recommend he see his veterinarian asap for an exam and evaluation. He may need blood work, x-rays, or other diagnostics as needed. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Prince! From your pictures his eyes are a bit more dilated than normal. I am worried about your description of his symptoms. Has he been urinating? How old is he? It is possible that the old treats have caused an upset stop but it is probably a bit unlikely. I highly recommend having him seen today when your Vet opens, especially if you haven't seen him urinate since he started getting sick. Not being able to urinate for male cats is an emergency. Other possibilities are: viral or bacterial infection, toxin ingestion or he ate something causing a blockage. If he is old I would worry about kidney or liver disease and cancer. It sounds as though Roger is sick with something affecting his GI tract. Diarrhea can lead to dehydration very quickly which can result in weakness and weight loss. The third eyelids are often more exposed with GI upset, pain or dehydration. I recommend having Roger evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. He may need subcutaneous or IV fluids as well as testing to determine the cause of his symptoms.
