My cat's leg has a bald spot and bone is showing. What should I do?

I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. However, with a history of possible trauma and the presence of blood then a fracture is possible. Just based on the presence of blood and the possibility of a fracture, I would highly recommend you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Such a deep wound with the bones and tendons exposed requires surgical attention from a vet. Contact your nearest clinic or animal welfare charities for a full assessment as soon as possible. Severe infection of the bones could lead to loss of the leg if not treated appropriately

I'm wondering if he snagged some fur on the enclosure causing the fur loss. He may have gotten excited seeing the squirrels and moved suddenly, causing some fur to snag and pull out. I don't know how severe it is, but if the bleeding cannot be stopped or you think Moya is in pain, I recommend having her seen by a vet as soon as possible. If the wound is healing, I recommend trying to keep the area clean and dry. You should monitor the area for swelling or discharge as these may be sign of an infection. I hope this helps!

I'm not sure what articles you are reading, but a wound like this should never be left alone! If a bone or tendon is showing, that is a deep wound that requires stitches to close. In addition, Jack will need antibiotics to prevent an infection, and pain medications as this will be quite painful for him. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. I would take him into a vet immediately. Best of luck.
