My cat has red spots, fever, diarrhea. Is Lamisil safe to lick?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old

1- my cat has a fungal disease ( a friend of mine told me). There are red spots on its back, stomach, and tail. It has a mild raise on its body's temp, and lastly a diarrhea. What is this? is it life-threatening? is it contagious for people and other cats? What should I do? 2-Currently I'm using a fungal shampoo and an antifungal spray called Lamisil. Are these enough as a treatment? and is it ok if my cat licked the spray?

I'm sorry but we cannot diagnose your cat's skin disease over the internet just by looking at some photos. Many skin diseases look the same. He needs to be examined by a vet. I cannot tell you if it is contagious or deadly because I don't know what it is. Again, a vet needs to examine him and do some testing. If it is not fungal in origin then the Lamisil is not going to work. It is not OK for the cat to lick the spray. If it is fungal in origin (like ringworm) the treatment you are doing may work but usually oral therapy is needed. To me, the lesions do not look typical for a fungal infection.

Please have a veterinarian examine the cat. You need to get a diagnosis before you can know how to treat him properly.
