My cat's jaw trembles when she bites gently. Is it bite inhibition?

Eerie is likely displaying either love or a very delicate way to play with you. Cats can be a little weird in the way that they display their emotions. As long as the play is gentle and you don’t see her flicking the end of her tail. If you notice the flicking, that generally denotes either irritation or play behavior! Ears laying back indicates irritation or getting ready to pounce! See what her little body language is telling you as well and you may pick up a book about cat behavior so that you can better interpret her body language. This is likely just because she was really excited to be playing so I would not be too concerned. If she continues to shake her bottom jaw even when y’all are not playing then I would have your vet take a look at her. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Hmmmm, I’d really have to see Lumi to determine if this is problematic. When I hear about a kitten with odd shaking concerns, I do think about a neurological disorder such as cerebellar hypoplasia....and symptoms can become more obvious when the cat is focusing on a task (“intention tremors”)..... but it’s usually pretty apparent and I think I’d be hearing more concern from you. If Lumi is completely normal in every other way, and this is just a little “shiver” sort of shake, then it’s likely normal. Sometimes they’ll shiver/tremble when they’re very excited, or nervous, both of which could come into play when eating. So, no concrete answer but I suspect this is normal. However, if it looks concerning to you (and certainly if you feel anything else about Lumi’s movements look odd) then it’s worth having your vet take a look at her to be safe. Hope this helps!

Probably a love bite, but I would not encourage Gray to do that, since they could become harder. Maybe when he does this, stop petting him and see if he moves away or is happier to just sit with you.

Nibbles is so cute! There could be a few causes for the symptoms you describe - migration of internal parasites, viral infections, injury. I strongly recommend having her examined by your vet to try to determine why her leg is painful, and why she is shivering. I hope this helps.

Usually is due to the taste or the ''texture'' of it rather than a pathologic condition. Nothing to be worried about! Trembling is a general sign and can be seen with several things that go from just being cold or nervous to being an indication of pain or discomfort. If Emmy is otherwise fine, then it would be ok to monitor her for now. However, if at any point she appears to be in discomfort or stops eating or showing any other concerning symptoms, it may be best to have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment.
