What is this bump on my cat's head with hair loss that doesn't bother him?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 3 years and 4 months old | 4 lbs

(Age and weight may be slightly off, this isn't technically my cat, he belongs to my fiance) A couple days ago I noticed a small bump on Shadow's head just about his eye and it seems to be balding there. It doesn't bother him, even if I touch it. I'd just like to know what could be wrong and what I should do to help him

It is nice of you to check up on your fiance's cat. This bump doesn't seem alarming to me. It is small, the same color as the rest of the skin, and doesn't seem to bother Shadow. I would recommend keeping an eye on this small bump for the next week or two to see if it goes down gradually on its own. If it doesn't or seems to grow or bother Shadow, then you should consider getting it tested through your vet to make sure it isn't something to be concerned about. The only thing you can do is place an e-collar on him if he does start to scratch at it. Otherwise it's best to just leave it be. I wish you all the best with Shadow. It is likely nothing to be concerned about based on this photo. Best wishes and take care.

What is this raised bump on my cat's head? Is it serious?

I can see that Sunshine has a small, raised, round bump over her right eye. While it does not appear to be bleeding or have any discharge at the time, it may be a cancerous mass, or a localized infection. I recommend having Sunshine seen by a vet who will be able to either remove the mass or take a sample of it to determine if it is benign (harmless) or malignant (infiltrating the tissue and possibly spreading). She should be seen sooner if you notice that the mass starts bleeding or having any discharge, starts growing in size rapidly, or you think it starts bothering Sunshine.

Hello, sorry to hear about Pearly. It does not look immediately like a bump I would be worried about, unfortunately the only way to tell is by looking at it closely and potentially obtaining a sample from it. That bump looks small enough that i may be able to be removed with local anesthesia. You should have your veterinarian evaluate it and determined if they recommend having it removed. Alternatively, you can continue to monitor the lump as long as it is not bothering Pearly, and have it assessed if you note any changes in size or if it becomes open or starts to produce discharge. What's this itchy red bump on my cat's back with thinning hair?

Pets can get many types of lumps and bumps. Most of these tumors will be benign but some will be malignant and you can't tell by looks. If the bump is still there in 2 weeks, I recommend to have it checked out to be safe. The doctor may recommend to aspirate the mass to examine the cells under a microscope. This appears to be a small cystic nodule, probably not cancerous, but all lumps & bumps should be evaluated by your veterinarian. A small sample taken with a very small needle can be examined under a microscope to see if there is anything to be worried about. You can watch this for a while, but if it suddenly should enlarge, please have it looked at. Take care.
