My cat has a growing lump on her head. Is it a skin tag or worse?

It is very difficult to tell from the photo. This is something that needs to be examined in person by your vet so that you can find out exactly what it is. That being said, it does not appear to be anything serious. Some possibilities: * scab * horny, keratin growth * skin tag * cyst

Unfortunately, it's impossible to tell what is going on with a skin problem by just looking at the skin since most skin problems look very similar. My best recommendation would be to have your veterinarian perform some simple skin tests to get a sample of the area to examine under the microscope. They will be able to evaluate for bacteria, yeast, mites, fungus and abnormal cells. Hopefully that will determine what is causing the problem and how to treat it. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Hi there, Emmie could just have a benign skin tag, but any lump should be checked with fine needle aspirate (small poke into the bump to collect cells which then get checked on microscope). Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If this happens to be in the abdomen, it is possible that this is a nipple. If not, then yes I agree it could be a growth. In that case, I recommend you have Leo evaluated by your veterinarian for a test called fine needle aspirate which is an easy, quick and pain-free procedure which in the majority of cases will help reach a diagnosis to identify what the best course of action is based on the findings. In some cases, a biopsy is needed for a diagnosis. If it truly is benign then removal is not necessarily recommended. However, if it is malignant and it has not spread to other locations, then surgical removal is recommended. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed that it is something benign.

It looks like a little wart or less likely a skin cyst. These are quite harmless and go away on their own. If it grows, changes colors or starts to bother Wendyl, then you should take her to the vet to get it checked out. They can take it off easily and send it to the lab for positive identification if needed.
