My cat is grieving a lost family member. How can I help him cope?

I am so very sorry that you lost your husband. Yes, cats do morn, just like people. Your cat may be looking for your husband for weeks, and will miss him, especially if it was your husband's cat. The only thing you can do is give it extra TLC. Over time the mourning will get less. Sounds weird, but you two have each other and snuggling will help you a bit and your cat as well. I'm sorry for your loss! Harley may be feeling depressed or stressed about the loss of the other cat too. However, I would also be concerned that Harley may be showing these signs because he may be having health issues. You can try something like a Feliway diffuser to see if that helps with the behavior. There are calming supplements and diets which can be very helpful, as well as pheromone and comfort zone diffusers which can help cats adapt to such situations. A full health check and possibly blood panel should be considered to rule out medical causes especially if there is any weight loss or altered thirst
