Why is my cat losing fur near his nose after eye removal surgery?

This could be due to a localized infection. One possibility (considering the recent illness) is a form of calicivirus that attacks the skin. This usually resolves on its own within 2-3 weeks, but may be complicated by secondary infections. This could also be due to a bacterial or fungal infection. It's best to take Miso to the vet (possibly the shelter vet), so they can try to identify the cause of this. For now, you can help by keeping the nose clean. You can do this by gently wiping with a cloth and warm water twice a day. You can then apply a triple antibiotic cream to the affected area after each wash. Dewey is a very cute little cat! It sounds like you are doing everything right, monitoring him carefully for any signs of soreness, discharge that looks like pus, or swelling. As long as he continues to eat, drink, pee and poop normally, and there is no sign of pus or any significant increase in the blood, I would not be too worried. Continue to keep the e-collar on him unless you are directly supervising him, and if you see any of the signs mentioned above, I recommend seeing a vet right away.

Yes hair loss on a young cat can be a sign of a mite issue (Demodexx mites in particular). Unless there is some nose rubbing or irritation of the skin to explain the hairloss, this is an unusual location for a mite infestation to start up. I would recommend monitoring the hair loss for the next couple of days to a week to see if the hair loss continues to spread. If it dose then this would highly suggest mites and I would recommend taking him in to your vet for a skin scrape to look for mite infestation. If they are there (demodexx mites are not contagious), then your cat can be started on treatment to get the mite population back down to normal. Demodexx mites are found on every pets skin, however, a low immunity in some pets causes overpopulation and hair loss which can lead to secondary bacterial infections of the skin if not treated.

IT is not uncommon fr some nasal discharge or blood - the tear ducts naturally drain down through the back of the nose/throat. If he is otherwise well I would continue to monitor - a vet check is recommended if the discharge is persistent, thick/coloured or any weight loss or fever develops

I recommend to go to the veterinarian. Losing fur is not normal and may indicate something like ringworm (which humans can get), allergies, infection or skin mites. I'm not sure what the bump may signify but your vet will get a better idea from an exam. I hope this helps.

What you describe certainly is not normal after a minor surgery such as a neuter. However, I am suspicious that he may have a skin infection, ringworm, or even possibly mites. Sometimes if they have a minor infection or mites then the stress of surgery can cause it to get worse. That lesions looks pretty quiet. Perhaps Voli had an injury there or the hair regrowth cycle is off. If you are comfortable, you may monitor the area right now. If it gets larger or appears swollen, take him into the vet. Cats rarely get lacrimal duct infections but that lesion is in the area over the duct system.
