This could be a skin infection caused by a fungus (ringworm), or bacteria or an old injury. Since ringworm is contagious to people and other pets in the house, I suggest you have this examined by your veterinarian to rule out a fungal infection. In the meantime do wash your hands after handling your kitty. Your vet will want to take a brush sample from the spot and culture it and until the culture has grown, will probably give you some medication to treat it.

Based on the picture it appears that she may have had a lot of clumping debris on her fur? If her skin was irritated from debris encrusting the underside of her belly then it could cause enough irritation to cause hair loss. Also skin infection and ringworm are also possible causes. I would have a vet examine Chewy to rule out issues such as fungal infections, allergies, wounds, parasites, metabolic issues, etc that could all be causing what you are seeing, as that is a very large irritated area. Until you can get to the vet, keeping an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Chewie to keep her from scratching can help reduce irritation and the chances of secondary infections.
