Best all-in-one cat protection for fleas, ticks, mites, heartworms?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 5 years and 2 months old | 13 lbs

For my cats I definitely have to have tick protection cause we have bobcat disease around here. Also need flea meds and have seen meds for ear mites and heartworms. What can I get that covers all. Can I use two at the same time to cover all?

I assume you are talking about heartworm and flea protection. If so, yes. Either Revolution or Advantage Multi would be the product to use.

I would recommend Revolution or Advantage Multi. I personally like Advantage Multi better. Any product containing a heartworm prevention is a prescription item so you need to get your vet to either dispense the product or write you a script.

Hello, I agree with your veterinarian's recommendations. Advantage Multi for cats is a good product which covers against fleas, roundworms, ear mites, hook worms and heart worm so this may be a good product. Revolution does the same, although the advantage multi ingredient seems to be more effective against heart worms.

What 2 treatments can I use for my outdoor cat's fleas, ticks, worms?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I like Bravecto for flea and ticks. It is a topical that works for 3 months. Then I would use interceptor monthly for heartworm and intestinal parasites. Or you can use Advantage Multi and the Seresto collar for the ticks. But you are right there isn't a product that gets everything for dogs or cats. Have a great day!

Hello, you can use Advantage Multi for cats which is good for fleas, roundworms, hookworms, ear mites, and heartworm. In addition, you can use a seresto collar for cats which is good for cats and dogs. Before starting advantage multi, you should have him tested for heartworm. The rabies and his other yearly vaccines (FVRCP) should continued to be given yearly especially if he continues to be an indoor and outdoor cat. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Do indoor cats need Revolution, or is flea/tick prevention enough?

Hello, and thanks for your question about Mazie. This is a great question, and it really comes down to a question of how significant is the risk of disease exposure to Mazie, vs the cost of preventative. I see you live in Georgia - given how prevalent heartworm disease is in your area, as well as intestinal parasites, my advice would be to stick with Revolution in order to have a more broad-spectrum product to address heartworm disease and intestinal parasites in addition to external parasites like fleas and ticks. That's to cover your bases in case the rare mosquito finds its way into your home, or in case Mazie sneaks out. But, again it comes down to risk and cost. If you feel that you live in a home that's pretty mosquito-proof, and if Mazie is not prone to sneaking outside once in awhile, then her heartworm and intestinal parasite risk is probably low enough that a flea/tick product would suffice. You are correct, revolution will not kill ticks and is only effective against fleas, heartworm,intestinal roundworm, hookworm and ear mites. If ticks are a threat in your area than a product containing fipronil (frontline spray) can be used after 10-14days When next treatment is due, discuss broader treatments with your vet including broadline (ticks, fleas and worms) spot on or using separate internal and external parasite preventions to treat fleas/ticks and worms separately to ensure all risks are covered
