Cat has fleas, recently treated. Should I re-treat before my trip?

The product safety specifications indicate that it should not be applied more often than once every 7 days for cats. I would not want to overload her system with more topical product in case she received a full dose and all of the dose was absorbed. In a week, it would be okay to apply another application. Hello, you can retreat him now and keep him off the water for atleast 5 days. You’ll need to continue to treat your house and deep clean for atleast a month. Other oral preventatives you can try are nexguard. Hope this helps and best of luck

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It should be ok as long as you applied to topical after the bath. If the fleas are slow moving it is likely the treatment is working. There are still fleas in the environment that have to get on the pet in order to die. Continue the treatment every 4 weeks for 3-4 doses. You can apply after 3 weeks if you are still seeing live fleas. Also remember to treat all pets in the home. Kisses to Charlie!

As for mixing drugs I would need to know what oral flea pill you want to give. Ideally if Eli is flea allergic she should get flea medications every month year round. Personally I see a lot of flea resistance with the Fipronil Spot On. I recommend Bravecto (topical), Comfortis (oral) or the Seresto collar for cats. I wish Eli a speedy recovery!

Administering more than one topical type in a 30 day period may be an overload to her system. The Fipronil is liking absorbed already, so I would not advise you apply the Vectra. Instead, you may ask your veterinarian about a administering capstar or another fast acting oral flea treatment medication. Next month, you may apply the Vectra. Hopefully that will do the trick.

Yes it is safe to reapply most topical flea preventatives every 2 weeks if needed. This should be fine and safe to do since you are 2 weeks out. However, if you are still seeing fleas after this correct dosing, it is best to consider switching to a more effective product such as Revolution.
