My cat's eye has a bleeding injury and a visible hole. What's wrong?

It's difficult to know what this is without seeing it. This could be a bad case of conjunctivitis, an infection within the eye, or a problem with the skin surrounding the eye. Either way, this sounds very severe and it's important that Kitty be seen by a vet soon. If you can get her into carrier and take her to a vet, that would be best. Sometimes, you have to catch them in a trap (non-harmful) in order to get them to a vet. If you have trouble doing this, or are unable to take her to a vet, then I recommend calling the local shelter and asking for assistance. The shelters have vets on staff and will ensure Kitty gets the necessary treatment. I hope that helps and Kitty gets better soon.

Tinkerbell's eye lid does appear to have some sort of tear or ulceration. This could be related to trauma or a viral infection. Tears on the eyelid should be care for quickly. I recommend to have Tinkerbell examined by his veterinarian within the next day. Make sure to protect the area from rubbing by having him wear an elizabethan collar at all times. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Freya. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian. The bleeding is worrisome and needs to be evaluated. She may require treatment. She could have an external wound or have actually sustained damage within the eye itself. In the meantime, do not allow her to paw as the eye as this can cause further trauma. Oh my. This appears to possibly be an injury to the eye and subsequent infection. It is hard to tell the degree of injury based on the photos, a vet exam is definitely needed her. I would highly recommend taking Mow to your local vet right away to get this eye tested, fully examined and treated. Best case scenario is that there isn't permanent damage done to this eye and antibiotics/pain medication /- drainage of a potential abscess are needed to get Mow better. This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. I'm sorry but it is very difficult to assess eye problems with regular photos. The use of an ophthalmoscope, slit lamp, etc to look into the eye is best. It sounds like that has been done and an ophthalmologist exam would be best. All I think I see in this photo is a dark area above the pupil that would worry me about iris melanoma but again, I can't really tell much from a photo. There are too many possibilities as to what could be going on. An ophthalmologist will be able to help better as this is their area of expertise. If the current treatment is not working well, it may be time to consider switching to a different antibiotic. If this is viral, an antiviral drug might be considered if this is bad enough.
