Do cat ear injuries heal faster than other skin on their body?

I would recommend for your kitty to see the veterinarian. Infections tend to heal significantly faster and with less complications with antibiotics. You also will need to make sure he does not lick at the wound as this will make it worse. Have him wear an Elizabethan collar at all times and keep him indoors until it is healed. If your cat had a ruptured eardrum, healing should take between 3-5 weeks. Place an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent scratching, pawing or rubbing at the ear. He should be rechecked several times during this time frame to confirm healing is taking place.

You likely don't need to do anything to Purrcy's ear as they can typically heal the wound without any help. Watch it for any redness, swelling or discharge. If you want to apply a topical antibiotic you will need to put an elizabethan collar on Purrcy so that he cannot rub it off and then ingest it while grooming. Skin infections due to lick dermatitis may take up to 10 days to heal or more. Skin glue can be used to close small lacerations, however ear lacerations are very difficult to get to heal "cleanly" (i.e. achieve closure) due to the relatively small surface area of the 2 edges you are trying to bring together. Also, most of the tissue in that location is cartilage, which doesn't heal very well in the best of circumstances. It wouldn't have been wrong to try to glue or suture this injury, but I would have been pretty pessimistic about chances for normal healing, even if it was addressed at the time you first brought him in. If you are really concerned about this, the way to approach it would be to debride both edges (that means to take a scalpel blade and scrape until the tissue is bleeding) and then suture closed. Obviously this would require anesthesia, and I'm just not sure it's worth it.

Hi A pic helps in this cases so I always suggest to attach pics. But since there are none , in general , if the cut is already healing and showing no signs of infection such as redness, discharge, pain, swelling and the cat is not bothered by it , scratching etc you can monitor it is healing till its gone. If Any signs as the one mentioned above start take him to the vet. Also according to your question the scratchbis under the collar so it may ne a good idea to take off the collar just for a while to air the area . Hope this helps
