Do cat ear injuries heal faster than other skin on their body?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 8 years old | 11 lbs

I was just reading the excellent peteducation.com item about incisions and healing in animals; my cat had a partial pinnectomy on Friday. Do ears tend to heal quicker than other skin tissue? I imagine tha ear injuries aren't uncommon among cats. Thanks. John. PS: Tilly is wearing an e-collar.

They heal at the same rate as other skin injuries within 10-14 days. they just have an increase blood supply to the area. The e collar needs to stay on that way she can’t scratch them out and delay healing.
