She may just have a GI upset from stress, but if she is also lethargic she may dehydrated to the point of needing fluids or medications. In some cases of gastroenteritis, dogs may require hospitalization for IV fluid therapy. I hope Hachi is feeling better soon.

Typically, these kinds of allergies can be treated by changing the type of food with a new food that contains a different kind of protein. You can also try a food with hydrolyzed protein (hypoallergenic), though this kind of diet can be more expensive. Otherwise, you should ensure Hikaru is not losing weight, having diarrhea, or has a decreased appetite as all of these may indicate a more aggressive disease such inflammatory bowel disease or GI lymphoma. Unfortunately if you're switching foods frequently it can be difficult to determine which is or isn't helping, so if your vet recommends a food trial you should stick to one specific food for at least 6 to 8 weeks before deciding if it is or isn't helping.
