Cat vomiting food and loose stool: Is it stress or a health issue?

Pets can vomit due to stress but with an older cat, it's very important to make sure there's not a health issue going on like hyperthyroidism or renal disease. I recommend to play it safe and have Harley examined by the veterinarian. If he is eating the kitten food, this could also cause the vomiting. The only way to differentiate between the two disease is a surgery to take biopsies of the intestines and have them analyzed. They will check for parasite and check her labs for any renal or endocrine disease

It's possible the cat having diarrhea is having some sort of food allergy, or it could be stress related. Changing the diet or attempting a food trial with your veterinarian may help rule out any potential allergies and help relieve the diarrhea if there were no parasites or illness present. Reducing stress may also help, and adding in a pheromone diffuser in shared rooms can help with reducing stress along with making sure each cat has their own access to the litter box, food, water, etc without competition (that could lead to stress or accidents outside the litter box). As for your picky eater, switching foods may also encourage them to try a little more.

It may be something as easy as just changing her diet to something that she can tolerate better. However, an examination by a veterinarian as well as minimal diagnostic data would be needed to rule out more concerning things. You can start by changing her diet to a sensitive stomach type diet.
