My cats drank Clorox toilet cleaner but seem fine. What should I do?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the floor looked dry I am sure she is fine. I do not think she needs to see a vet. If you want to rinse her mouth out well with water as a precaution and wipe her paws well with water to prevent any more possible ingestion that isn't wrong. If she becomes lethargic, drools, won't eat or in anyway appears abnormal then bring her to the Vet. But based on your description I think she will be fine. Maybe have a discussion with your roommate about this so it won't happen again. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! To be safe, bathe Sabbath in case bleach got on his fur. Since cats groom themselves we wouldn't want him to get bleach in his mouth. If he'll let you, try to rinse his mouth, but don't do it if he tries to bite. My hope is that he didn't lick any and none spilled on him. If he starts drooling, not eating or breathing fast take him to the Vet. I hope this helps! Good luck!

I assume you mean liquid Clorox bleach. If it was only a small amount that was soaked into the sock and if Chandler is acting fine, you are probably ok as it’s unlikely he ingested much if any. When pets ingest bleach, it causes chemical burns in the mouth and upper GI tract. Checks his lips, mouth and tongue (as best you can) for any redness or peeling/bleeding, monitor him for not eating well or vomiting. If you see anything, take him to the vet right away. You can also give him a couple tablespoons of milk as this will help to neutralize any bleach he may have ingested - be advised it could also cause soft stool. When in doubt, have him seen. I’d just watch her for now, and check her mouth to make sure there are no burns in it. If you see burns, take her into a vet immediately. If you see excessive drooling, vomiting, difficulty eating, or lethargy, have her seen by a vet. You did the right thing by giving her milk. I hope this helps.

It's not safe for cats to drink bleach water, but animals typically do not ingest enough bleach to cause toxic effects. You may see vomiting, drooling, abdominal pain, and a sore throat. Give her plenty of fresh water, and take her to the vet if you see any of those signs. Do not allow her access to the toilet in the future to drink from it. I recommend getting her a cat water fountain to drink from, it will give her a supply of fresh water at all times, and in my experience cats love drinking from them. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Bleach can cause severe internal burns. I would recommend to call the Pet Poison Control Hotline. The chemicals are diluted but they will have a better idea of what amount is toxic and what the next steps should be. These burns can occur within minutes to a few hours. Call them ASAP. I hope everything turns out ok with Malec!

Oh no. As this was diluted with water, there is a good chance Nala really didn't get much of the scrubbing bubbles. Watch her for drooling, lethargy, and loss of appetite. Also check her mouth for signs of sores. If you see any of those things, have her seen by a vet.
