If Beau is eating, not straining to defecate, and not vomiting I would assume the increased dosage is working. I wouldn't decrease the dose with out speaking to your Vet specifically. Being on the higher dose for just 3 days may not be enough time to get him to a better place before decreasing. If he isn't eating well, is straining to poop and is vomiting he could be constipated and he should be seen.
