My cat has diarrhea. Did aloe vera or a supplement cause it?

I would just keep an eye on Buddy. Aloe vera ingestion can cause vomiting and diarrhea, but it is usually self-limiting, meaning it usually gets better without treatment. If he starts to have symptoms, offer him plenty of fluids (water, broth, pedialyte). Since he is so tiny, I would not recommend withholding food, but try for bland foods like chicken breast and cooked white rice. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Licorice evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Miralax and Benefiber are quite different from each other. I would not use Miralax if she is having diarrhea as you no longer need a laxative. Benefiber would be my recommendation to help bulk up the stool since she is experiencing diarrhea now. Glandex is fine to continue long term as it is a good source of fiber. You can also use Vetasyl capsules for cats (protein in capsule form). If using Benefiber, I would use ~1/2 tsp added to the food. You can also use Laxatone to help keep stools soft and help prevent constipation. I hope this helps!

Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. I suggest you have him dewormed and I would also start him on a probiotic (Fortiflora). If you do those two things and the diarrhea doesn't start to resolve in a few days then you need to take him to a vet for an exam. If you use that again in the future and the diarrhea starts again then you can probably confidently say that it is the issue in which case I would stop using it. Usually if that is the case the diarrhea starts within 24 hours of administration. Two weeks later, it is not likely. The new food is also possibly the culprit but again, you didn't switch cold turkey and it doesn't sound like he is eating that much of it anyway. Again, possible but not likely. Hope this helps. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Zentel is listed as a human albendazole product. If this is the medication that you gave your cat, I recommend a visit to the vet asap as cats can be very sensitive to albendazole, it is not a medication typically used in cats.

Try a little diaper cream around the anus to help soothe the irritated area. If he is licking excessively, I recommend an E-collar. It’s usually only necessary for about 24 hours in cases like this.
