My cat has chronic diarrhea and swollen bum after I gave medicine.

I would add in a probiotic like Purina Fortiflora and I would get a prescription intestinal diet form you Vet like Hill's i/d. It isn't wrong to deworm her again despite the negative stool sample since she was so infested with worms. Hopefully those 3 things in combination will nip the diarrhea. Good luck!

I wouldn't be too concerned. I would recommend repeating treatment in two weeks just to make sure they do not have tapeworms again. She could probably receive more deworming if needed at this point. I would recommend that you have Jewel evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to make this determination based on her medical history and exam. Good luck!

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I would not recommend the albendazole as it has cause a bone marrow toxicosis when used in cats. Very dangerous situation. The current thinking is to treat these cats with fenbendazole & a probiotic like Purina FortFlora or Proviable KP. Check with your vet about switching to the fenbendazole. Take care.

Even though you do not seen worms, it is possible that Cupcake still has gastrointestinal parasites causing her diarrhea with blood. GI parasites are one of the most common causes of diarrhea in kittens, and are easily treatable with deworming medication from your veterinarian. Other possibilities include viral infections and/or dietary indiscretion (eating something she shouldn't have). Regardless, I recommend having her evaluated by your veterinarian so he/she can perform an analysis of her feces to determine if and what parasites are present, and prescribe the appropriate treatment. I do NOT recommend purchasing products from either a pet store or food store, as these medications are not regulated and/or proven to be safe and effective for use especially in young kittens. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Mindy. Yes, I recommend that she sees a veterinarian. Cats that have parasites frequently have more than one type. It is best to have her examined and a stool sample tested. Sometimes the anus can be res from straining to defecate. I hope this information helps!
